PROTESTANTISM AND ITS DERIVATIVES

Protestantism was the first major division of Protestantism, undoubtedly after the separation between it and Orthodoxy. The Protestant Reformation represents a fundamental challenge to the practices and doctrines of Protestantism, which arose in the 16th century from within the Church itself. It unfolded in the form of a crisis whose rapid evolution exploded the European world, until then relatively unified around the same vision of faith and human beings. But, after fierce struggles, both physical and oral, against the Roman Catholic Church, Protestantism in turn fell into the trap of borrowing from the latter most of its rites and doctrines. It will also end up splitting into various religious obediences which are all found in the ecumenism sponsored by Protestantism.
